The Northwest Native American Center of Excellence (NNACOE) at Oregon Health and Science University aims to improve the health and wellness of all people by increasing the number of us (Native Americans) in the health workforce. The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions.

The Salish Kootenai College Center for Tribal Research and Education in Ecosystem Sciences—SKC TREES—has opportunities for tribal and non-enrolled students of Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs).

TREES places college students in science-based internships with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the U.S. Forest Service and other qualified partners.

Sitting Bull College is the tribal college of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. The SMART Scholarship is a scholarship for service program through the Department of Defense. The program offers scholarships for bachelors, masters and PhD students pursuing STEM. While in school, students will receive full tuition, monthly stipends, health insurance and book allowances, as well as summer internships that range from 8 to 12 weeks. Upon degree completion, scholars begin working in a civilian position with their sponsoring facility.
