The Forest County Potawatomi (FCP) have lived in Forest County, Wisconsin, since the late 1800s. Forest County Potawatomi of today are the largest employer in Forest County. The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has a big mission: Protecting Health, Saving Lives – Millions at a Time. Faculty, staff and students have helped eradicate smallpox, made water safe to drink, improved child survival, reduced the spread of HIV and uncovered the dangers of tobacco smoke. Researchers and scientists are now discovering ways to eliminate malaria, increase healthy behavior, reduce the toll of chronic disease, improve the health of mothers and infants, and change the biology of aging.

The School offers eight master’s degrees—MAS, MAPH, MBE, MPH, MHA, MHS, MSPH and ScM; two doctoral degrees-PhD and DrPH; along with combined degree options, certificates and non-degree opportunities.

The Joint Institute for the Study of the Atmosphere and Ocean (JISAO) has existed since 1977 for the purpose of fostering research collaboration between the University of Washington (UW) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). JISAO’s research is at the forefront of investigations on climate change, ocean acidification, fisheries assessments, and tsunami forecasting. Summer research opportunities are available for 10-12 undergraduate interns. Students are matched with a research project within one of JISAO’s seven research themes and work with a JISAO, NOAA, or UW scientist at either the UW campus or the NOAA Northwest Regional Center in Seattle.
